In this course, you will learn about the importance of the Waste Hierarchy in waste management programmes for all waste producers, how the Waste Hierarchy interacts with other waste management principles and how the Waste Hierarchy can be effectively implemented, including case studies.

The content in this course does not apply to radioactive effluents and discharges, or High Level Waste which is generated and managed at a single site, and for which there are limited management options. It should also be considered that the Waste Hierarchy must be applied to non-radioactive waste too, however, this course will only consider in detail the application of the Waste Hierarchy to radioactive waste.
